The Sacandaga Station Cottage Project consists of fifteen building lots spread over 10 wooded acres. Five lots are adjacent to the historic Cottage Circle, seven lots are in a village setting and three lots are right along the lake. All lots share a common boat dock and wooded areas surrounding the lots. The National Register listed Station building is at the center of the community. The Pickleball Courts and Sport Hall are on the southwest side of the parcel.
Each design is optimized for its siteplan location. Floorplan size varies between 1500 and 2500 sqft excluding porches and basements; the three lakefront cottages (and lots) are the larger ones. There are 2 or 3 baths, 2 or 3 bedrooms and a first floor bedroom option. Garages are set back, detached or consolidated in a common garage barn. All designs are unique and custom but have common architectural cottage style elements. Each cottage has 2 boat slips.
The placement of the cottages in the Village optimizes the viewshed towards the Great Sacandaga Lake. There is a natural slope towards the lake.
In the early 1900's the railroad tracks passed here. For historical reasons the railroad right of way was preserved, adding an open feeling to the setting.
Garages tend to spoil the "summer cottage look". Here, the garage is completely hidden behind the cottage, preserving a style that is typical Sacandaga Park.
The long wrap-around porch is reminiscent of the long porch of the Station building. This cottage faces the historic "Cottage Circle" but is set back from it.
